How to use your Samsung convection oven

Convection cooking uses a fan to circulate the oven’s heat. This is different from regular cooking, which generates heat from the top and bottom of your oven. Because of its fan, convection mode will cook your food more evenly and in less time. But which mode is the best to use?

Convection Bake

As you probably guessed from its name, Convection Bake is ideal for making baked goods, such as pies, cookies, cakes, and bread. It's also good for cooking large amounts of food.

When using convection cooking, it's best to put food items on a single rack (ideally, one of the lower racks in the oven).  This will ensure the pastries are cooked thoroughly since the heat will flow around them, and you’ll avoid burning the top of the pastries while the bottom browns evenly.

Convection Roast

Do you love a good roast beef or rotisserie chicken? Then use Convection Roast. This mode is great for larger, tender cuts of meat. Heated air circulates over, under, and around the food, so meat and poultry will be browned evenly. 

For the best performance, place a broiler pan and grid under the food to catch grease and other debris. Your meals will come out delicious and be healthier too!

Compared to regular cooking, convection cooking is more thorough and takes less time. However, most recipes are written with regular cooking in mind. To allow for this, the oven will automatically adjust the temperature 25°F cooler than the temperature you set, right after you set it, so that you don't have to make any adjustments to the original recipe yourself. For instance, if your cookie recipe is designed for 350°F, you can put 350 into the oven and it will automatically switch to 325°F instead (if you are using a Convection mode), so you can take the cookies out at the same time as the recipe calls for. If you don't want this automatic conversion, you can turn it off. See your user manual for instructions.

Your oven will come with two convection modes: one for roasting and one for baking. Using these modes is more or less the same - you just need to make sure you select the correct button. You can also refer to your oven’s user manual for more instructions if you are unsure.

1. Preheat your oven to the desired temperature. You can use the number pad or smart dial to change the temperature. 
2. Press the Convection Bake button or the Convection Roast button on the control panel. On most ovens, Convection Bake or Convection Roast will have a small fan icon next to it. Or, if you have a range with a smart dial, simply use the dial to select Convection Bake or Convection Roast.
3. Press START/SET on the oven's control panel.
4. Next, wait until the oven preheats to the temperature that you set.
5. Once the oven is hot enough, open the door and place the food on the appropriate rack. You can refer to the meal's recipe instructions if needed.
6. Then, close the door and allow the food to cook for the required amount of time.
7. Press OFF/CLEAR when your food is done. Using oven mitts, carefully remove the food and allow it to cool.
