Antioxidant index
Antioxidants can help prevent chronic illnesses by removing free radicals, which are unstable molecules that are generated through natural metabolic processes. Your body gets antioxidants through eating certain foods, such as fruits and vegetables.
The Antioxidant index is used to determine whether you're eating the daily recommended amount of fruits and vegetables. The level can range from 0 to 100, and is divided into Adequate, Low, and Very low.
To measure, you'll have to press your thumb to the sensor on the back of your watch.
- Make sure your watch is connected to a phone.
- Remove your watch from your wrist.
- Swipe up to open apps on your watch.
- Tap Samsung Health.
- Scroll down and tap the Antioxidant index tile.
- Tap Measure.
- Press your thumb on the sensor on the back of the watch until the measurement is complete. You'll see the results on your phone, which will also provide an explanation of what your results mean.
Vascular load
Your vascular system includes blood vessels that carry blood throughout your body with the purpose of delivering oxygen and nutrients, and removing toxins. Tracking your vascular load helps to track your overall health and lifestyle habits.
To use this feature, you'll need to have your watch connected to a phone, and you must first set a baseline by tracking three nights of sleep.
- On your phone, open the Samsung Health app.
- Tap the Vascular load tile.
- Tap Continue.
- Read the information about vascular load, and then tap Done.
- To set your baseline, you must wear your watch to sleep for three nights within a 14 day period. On those three nights, you must wear your watch for at least four continuous hours each night.
- Once this is complete, your watch will automatically track your vascular load.
- You can view the data in the Samsung Health app on your phone.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness is now on your Galaxy Watch8 or Watch8 Classic. Use it to help keep track of your mental health and practice habits that may help you reduce stress.
- On your watch, open the Samsung Health app.
- Scroll to and tap on the Mindfulness tile.
- From here, you can tap Check in to say how you're feeling, add emotions to it, and add why you think you may be feeling that way.
- You can also choose to take a deep breath by starting a breathing exercise. To do this, tap Start, and then selecting the breathing exercise you want.
- If you want to set reminders for check ins, you can do so from the Samsung Health app on your phone. Just open the app, tap the Mindfulness tile, and then tap Set reminders. Tap the switches to turn on the reminders you want.
High Stress Alert
While stress tracking isn't new on Galaxy smartwatches, with One UI 8 on the Galaxy Watch8 series, you can turn on High Stress Alerts with continuous tracking.
- On your watch, open the Samsung Health app.
- Tap the Stress tile.
- Scroll down and tap Settings.
- Make sure Measure continuously is selected.
