Interact with your Galaxy XR using intuitive hand or eye aiming:

Hand gestures

Once aiming is active, use the following gestures to control the device:

• Pinch and release: Pinch your thumb and index finger, then release to select the item you are aiming at.
  
• Pinch and hold: Pinch and hold for more than 2 seconds, then release to view additional available options.
  
• Pinch and drag: Pinch with your thumb and index finger and drag to move the item or resize a window.
  
• Pinch and flick: Pinch, then flick in the desired direction (up, down, left, or right) to scroll or swipe the screen.
  
• Double-hand pinch and spread: Pinch with both hands' thumb and index finger, then spread outward or inward to zoom in and out on the screen.
  

Screen aiming methods

Your Galaxy XR offers two intuitive screen aiming methods—hand aiming and eye aiming to enhance your interaction with the headset. Learn how to use each method effectively.

• Hand aiming: Hand aiming tracks the movement of your fingers, allowing you to aim at items and select them using hand gestures. When you extend your hand toward the screen, a pointer appears. Move your hand to guide the pointer to the desired location.
• Eye Aiming: Eye aiming lets you aim with your gaze and interact using hand gestures. For example, in the Gallery app, keep your hand down and look at a photo—the system will aim at the item you are gazing at. To activate this feature, press the Top button three times, and then follow the on-screen instructions to complete eye aiming calibration.
  • Eye aiming calibration is customized to your eyes. If another person uses the headset, repeat the calibration.
  • If aiming is inaccurate, run the calibration again.
  • To maintain eye aiming, keep your hand down while aiming. Raising your hand inside the screen switches to hand aiming.

Switch between screen miming methods

When Hand and eye aiming is selected as the screen aiming method, you can easily switch between eye aiming and hand aiming.

• To switch from eye aiming to hand aiming, extend your hand toward the direction you are looking.
• To return to eye aiming, pull your hand back toward your body.

To switch between Passthrough and VR backgrounds effortlessly, double-tap the Touchpad on the right side of the headset headband.

For detailed settings like ambient sound or Auto/Day/Night modes: 

1. Press the Top button to open the Launcher.
2. Select Settings, then Home environment, and then select Go to Settings.
   

You can also change environments via the Quick Panel in the Launcher.

The Launcher provides quick access to pinned apps and shortcuts:

• Gesture Navigation: Hold your palm forward until the menu icon appears. Pinch your thumb and index finger together, then short-pinch the Home icon (center) to open the Launcher. 
• Button Access: Press the Top button on the headset to open the Launcher. 

The Launcher also includes a Quick Panel with shortcuts for Home space, Gemini Live, and more.

Access actions like opening the Launcher or going back:

1. Hold your palm forward until the menu icon appears.
2. Pinch your thumb and index finger together.
3. Drag to select: 
   • Short pinch Home: Open Launcher.
   • Long pinch Home: Launch Circle to Search.
   • Short pinch Back: Return to the previous screen.
   • Short pinch Recents: Open recent apps.

Press the Top button on the headset or use hand gestures to open the Launcher, then swipe left to access the App tray:

• Use the Search bar to find apps.
• Select the Sort icon to change sorting order. 
• Drag and drop apps to reorder them.
• Pin apps by selecting Pin app in the secondary menu.

Top Button

• Short press: Open Launcher.
• Double press: Open Camera.
• Triple press: Start eye calibration. 
• Long press: Launch voice assistant (Gemini or Bixby).

Top + Volume Down

• Short press: Capture a screenshot. 
• Long press: Open Power menu. 

Volume buttons

• Volume up: Increase sound levels.
• Volume down: Decrease sound levels.

Press and hold the Top button to launch your default voice assistant (Gemini or Bixby).

To change the default assistant, press the Top button to open the Launcher, then select Settings. Next, select Advanced features, select Top button, and then select Long press to change the voice assistant.

The Touch Pad on the right side of the headset allows you to:

• Double tap: Turn Passthrough mode on or off.
• Touch and hold: Recenter your view.

Controller buttons

Use the buttons on the Galaxy XR controllers:

• Thumbstick: Navigate and control on-screen elements.
• Y/B button: Execute specific actions or commands.
• X/A button: Confirm choices or interact with objects.
• Menu button: Open app menus (when available).
• Launcher button: Short press opens Launcher; long press opens Recents.
• Trigger: Activate secondary actions like aiming or shooting.
• Grip button: Enhance immersion with additional control.

Use the controllers

Below is a detailed breakdown of the controller functionalities.

Press:

• Select an item: Press the Thumbstick or Trigger. 
• Pick up items: Press the Grip button to pick up items from the ground in some games or apps. 

Move:

• Move the pointer: Move your wrist to control the pointer direction (left, right, up, down) on the screen.

Push the Thumbstick:

• Move: Push the Thumbstick up or down to move. 
• Scroll: Push the Thumbstick up or down to scroll through webpages or lists.
• Navigate items: Push the Thumbstick left or right to move to the next or previous item.

Opening the Menu:

• Press the Menu button to open the menu in some games or apps.

Opening the Launcher:

• Press the Launcher button to open the Launcher. 

Capturing and Recording the Screen:

• Capture screen: Press the Launcher button and Trigger simultaneously.
• Record screen: Press and hold the Launcher button and Trigger simultaneously.

Hold your palm forward until the menu icon appears. Pinch your thumb and index finger together to open the Launcher. Select the Notification or Quick Settings icon from the panel.

• Type by poking keycaps with your index finger or aim and pinch without touching.
• Move the keyboard by pinching it outside.
• Dismiss the keyboard by selecting the X button.

Pinch the outer area of a window to move it or drag its corners to resize.

To arrange app layouts in Home space, press the Top button on the headset or use hand gestures to open the Launcher, then select the Tidy icon from Quick Settings.

Press the Top button or use the hand gesture to open the Launcher, then select Settings. Next, select Boundary, and then perform the following:

• Change your boundary size or the location. 
• Select Adjust floor level to align the floor in virtual or mixed reality with your physical floor.
