
Audio or sound is not working on your Samsung Chromebook

When audio isn't working on your Samsung Chromebook, you may need to update its software version or change the input or output selection. Don't forget to test your sound after each step to see if it is working.
It may be necessary to reset or recover the Chromebook. All files will be erased, including downloaded files. Be sure to back up your files on Google Drive or an external hard drive.

Verify the Chromebook has the current software version installed.
Update your Chromebook's operating system.

Make sure the sound isn't muted.
Click the Taskbar icon in the bottom right corner, and then adjust the volume using the slider.

Change the sound input or output.
Click the Right arrow icon next to the volume slider, and then select where the output sound will come from (headphones) or the input you speak into (microphone).

Disconnect or unplug any audio devices, such as Bluetooth speakers or headphones.
To disconnect Bluetooth devices, click the Taskbar icon, and then click the Bluetooth icon to turn it off.

If the steps above did not solve the problem, perform the following:
Factory reset the Chromebook. If the factory reset doesn't resolve the issue, you must perform a complete recovery.
If the Chromebook is connected to an audio device such as headphones or a microphone, you can select the output and input.
If the issue persists after performing all the steps above, including a complete recovery, service is required. Please visit the Support Center to request service.
